Festival Schedule

IHC-ILF Samanvay (www.ilfsamanvay.org) is India Habitat Centre’s annual festival of Indian Languages.

The annual Samanvay reinvents itself this year to focus more on the children and young adult’s space, realising the urgency in engaging with this. Being engaged in programming for children & older age groups, we always felt that parents and motivated educators were trying their best to cope with changing times to facilitate the best tools for children. In this context, books, reading platforms and content in general have to be understood in their diversity and strengths. This festival is to further understanding in this direction.

The IHC-ILF Samanvay Children’s and Young Adults’ Weekend on Nov 10 and 11 (Sat & Sun) will look at Children’s & Young Adults’ Writing, Publishing for young readers in India today, the Changing Nature of Reading Culture, Infrastructure and Access. We are also exploring relevant platforms facilitating access to reading in the Indian languages such as the Libraries, online reading platforms & apps and other initiatives by the State, organisations and individuals to foster reading & enable better access.

The sessions will consist of author readings by children’s and young adults’ authors, storytelling sessions, workshops for children, parents and educators, demos of digital platforms/apps, slam poetry & performances, an audio storytelling booth and panel discussions on the topics flagged above.

The festival will also bring together a range of book stalls by Publishers with a focus on recent children’s and young adults’ titles.
